To ensure that we provide you with the best care available, we are always on the lookout for the most highly-skilled and accomplished practitioners in their respective fields. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce Dr. Jessica Montalvo to our Origins of Health community.
Meet Dr. Jessica Montalvo
Dr. Montalvo is an expert in the fields of Lyme disease, tick-borne co-infections, mycotoxin illness, and MCAS, having graduated from the Lyme Disease Practitioner Certification course. With over a decade of experience in the medical field and a deep passion for treating cognitive decline and environmentally acquired illnesses, Dr. Montalvo has enhanced her training in functional medicine to better address the root causes of her patients’ symptoms.
Recently, Dr. Montalvo sat down with Dr. Tom for an interview to discuss her background, expertise, and how she can serve patients at Origins of Health. Here are some highlights from their conversation.
Dr. Tom: Tell us a bit more about your background and the work you do
Dr. Montalvo: I’ve spent the majority of my career working with seriously ill patients, specifically in a hospital setting where I cared for cancer patients and received additional training in palliative care.
Through this work, I became very comfortable with serious and chronic illnesses and learned the importance of being present for patients in a unique way.
One of the reasons I shifted my practice is because I wanted to meet patients earlier on in their illness journey, with the goal of making a profound difference in their quality of life for years to come.
I also have a deep interest in ancient and emerging therapies, and in harnessing the power of the mind and spirit to achieve greater healing.
Dr. Tom: Can you tell us more about your healing philosophies?
Dr. Montalvo: I believe that people with chronic infections, mold illness, and other conditions have a lot of potential that is often held back.
One thing that is often missing is a healing mindset. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemies and stand in the way of our own healing.
I am particularly interested in ancient therapies, such as cannabis, medicinal mushrooms, and psilocybin, which have promising evidence for effectiveness.
However, I don’t think we have enough practitioners who are applying these therapies to enough patients who could benefit from them. My goal is to marry the worlds of ancient therapies with treatment for cognitive decline and environmentally acquired illnesses to help patients achieve the best possible outcome.
Doctor Montalvo is now accepting patients at Origins of Health. You can learn more about her background and how you can start working together HERE.
